Adding an email account to your iPhone, iPad, or any iOS device can be done in two ways: automatically using cPanel's autoconfiguration or manually. This guide will walk you through both methods to help you access your emails on the go.
Automatic Configuration Using cPanel
- Log into cPanel: Start by logging into the cPanel of your hosting account.
- Find the Email Accounts section: Look for the 'Email Accounts' section and select the email you want to configure on your iOS device.

>>> screenshot - Download and Install Profile: Download the profile provided and install it on your iOS device. This will automatically set up your email account.

Troubleshooting Common Issues
Incoming Emails Not Getting Synced
If you're experiencing issues with incoming emails not syncing, the problem may lie with your IMAP server settings. Follow these steps to ensure your settings are correctly configured:
- Go to Settings > Accounts and Passwords.
- Select your email account and scroll down to tap Advanced.
- In the iPhone IMAP advanced configuration, ensure Use SSL is turned on and the port number is set to 993.
Cannot Verify Server Identity
Should the Mail app fail to verify your email server's identity:
- Navigate to Wi-Fi settings and turn off the Wi-Fi toggle.
- Retry setting up your email account with Wi-Fi turned off.
- Once done, you can turn your Wi-Fi back on.
Error Message: Unable to Send Message
If you encounter an error stating unable to send messages due to connection issues with mail.example.com
:
- Access Settings > Accounts and Passwords and select the configured account.
- Scroll down to select SMTP and check the SSL and Port details.
- Ensure Use SSL is on and the SMTP port is 465.
Cannot Delete Emails
To resolve issues with deleting IMAP emails:
- Go to Settings > Passwords & Accounts.
- Choose your email account and go to Advanced.
- Select Deleted Mailbox and under the On Server section, select the Trash box to enable deletion from the iPhone.
Too Many Connections - 500 Errors
Excessive connections might lead to 500 errors due to the enabled Push feature:
- Navigate to Settings > Passwords & Accounts.
- Select Fetch New Data and toggle Push to Off to reduce IMAP processes.
Cannot Connect Using SSL
If you're unable to connect using SSL, possibly due to the absence of an SSL certificate:
- From the error menu, select No to bypass the SSL setup and tap Save.
- Tap the problematic email account and scroll down to SMTP.
- Tap the Primary Server and set SSL to OFF, then change the Server Port to 465.
